Teaching Philosophy

Samurai Academics focuses on two main methods, incremental learning, and mastery, to assist students in achieving their academic goals. These methods are then applied to mathematics and test prep, as well as to several aspects of language arts to develop well-rounded critical thinking skills in your student. While students receive instruction in mathematics, critical thinking through language arts or both, they will benefit from practice in handwriting and organizational skills as well. Daily logs will be kept for each student to monitor progress in an effort to guide and modify their individual educational course plan.

Basic

Covers one to two sessions per week. This option is great for students who may need extra review to master current classroom subjects. Students in this package should be caught up in school, but not behind, as students who are behind may need more frequent practice to catch up to their peers.

Advanced

Covers five to six sessions per week. The advanced package would be best for students who are preparing for SAT/ACT exams or students who are in danger of being retained. This option is intensive and should only be considered if you feel your child would benefit from an extra 5 to 12 hours of instruction a week.

Mid-Range

Covers three to four sessions per week. This option is best for students that are slightly behind in school and are looking to catch up in class or students looking to get ahead in school. Because the material being covered in the students' tutoring session may not be the same as the information being covered in class, if they are working on old or new information, they will need to meet more frequently than the basic package to ensure proper retention of the material.

Homeschool

Homeschooling options are also available for students. Full or partial day homeschooling is available to students who are in an online school, tutors will be available to monitor student activities and assist with assignments as needed. Subject specific course homeschooling is also available for mathematics and language arts for grades K-12. At this time we do not offer full day instructor lead homeschooling.
